spreadsheets & yoga

both are about paying attention to what you’re doing, and with awareness, experimenting with what else could you do—for yourself, for this moment, for your family, your work, your dreams, worries, body and home

Retrieve and feed your creativity with Julia Cameron’s morning pages, part of her The Basic Tools

Morning Pages are three pages of longhand, stream of consciousness writing, done first thing in the morning. There is no wrong way to do Morning Pages– they are not high art. They are about anything and everything that crosses your mind– and they are for your eyes only.

I have been doing a variation of morning pages for a months now. The more I do it, and no matter what I write, the more I end up releasing what I don’t need and reminding myself where it was I wanted to plant my two feet this morning. Very useful. I waste way less time by clearing a space and orienting myself before slipping into the water of the day ahead. Lately, I write each morning at 750words.com. You might like to write there, too. It’s totally private and you get stats about your writing.
